Erik Almqvist
Erik is the Founder and CEO of Sense Strategy. He set up the firm in London 1999 at a time when technology and digital innovation took the world by storm. He has served in multiple Partner, Managing Director, and leadership positions for Arthur D Little, Arkwright, Analysys Mason and goetzpartners.
Erik comes from a long line of engineers and innovators. His great grandfather Sven Alexander Almqvist designed and built the world’s first oil tanker, the Zoroaster together with Ludvig Nobel, the elder brother of Alfred Nobel in 1878.
Erik has done the world’s first scientific calculation of the effects of broadband speed upgrades on economies, and is together with Patrik Regårdh the co-creator of The Ericsson Networked Society City Index.
He has digitally transformed Telia Company, financially rescued Mobily of Etisalat Group, and saved the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. In the energy sector he has formulated strategies and led energy and digital transformations. He is an adviser to the UAE Government and the UAEIIC on Foreign Direct Investments and Institution Building. Erik has recently been involved in a string of national digital economy transformations and 4IR enablement of 30+ countries in the Middle East and Africa.
He holds a Masters degree in Economics and Business Administration from The Stockholm School of Economics and advises on a range of strategic, digital economy, operative, 4IR, transformation and M&A matters for Government, Energy, Technology and Telecommunication companies.
